Amy Goodman is Coming to Portland May 13th!

With Amy, May 2016
I last saw Amy Goodman speak one year ago. I have seen Amy many, many times over the years and try to never miss her. I've also been blessed with watching and/or listening to "Democracy Now!" for many years. And I am changed. Deeply. Because again and again and again my ignorance is revealed to me and I am instead gifted with new awareness, new knowledge, new and richer understanding of myself and others and this beautiful struggling world we share. Amy's courage and integrity and fierceness about truth-telling and bringing us the stories and issues and facts about that which we most need to know - much of which is rarely if at all covered in the corporate media - inspires me! She touches that fire in my heart and soul to join with her and the countless others who are awakening from fear and ignorance and now able to increasingly choose to be in the world mindfully and with greater consciousness, connection, and caring for all of life. What a gift! Amy Goodman is among my most beloved heroes. I love her. I simply love her. And now she's coming to Portland again. Yes! And her lifelong work is without question a profound gift to us all.

Amy Goodman will be speaking this time on Saturday, May 13th at 5pm at Powell's Books at Cedar Hills Crossing - 3415 SW Cedar Hills Blvd. in Beaverton. This space is significantly larger than that of Powell's Books downtown. I still would plan to get there early as her events totally fill.

About this event:
Democracy Now!’s National Tour: Covering the Movements Changing America
A Talk by Award-Winning Journalist Amy Goodman
introduced by her co-author, Democracy Now!’s Denis Moynihan
The unprecedented resistance to President Donald Trump’s rise to power did not materialize overnight. Grassroots movements have been challenging the establishment for years, and are what Democracy Now! reports on every day in its global news hour, and in this book.
From the standoff at Standing Rock over the Dakota Access Pipeline, to the voices of grassroots leaders; from Black Lives Matter activists to the stories of those fighting for peace, climate justice, migrant rights, and LGBTQ equality; from uncovering government surveillance to fighting attacks on freedom of the press, Democracy Now! has been reporting for two decades from the front lines of the movements that are changing America and changing the world.
In these times of war and elections, movements and uprisings, we need independent media more than ever. The commercial media serves as a mouthpiece for corporate and government interests—giving a platform to the pundits and the pollsters who know so little about so much, explaining the world to us and getting it so wrong.
Democracy Now! is a modern day underground railroad of information, bringing stories from the grassroots to a global audience.
Free speech is democracy’s last line of defense. We must demand it, defend it, and most of all, use it—now.
