What We Must Heal and Transform Within Ourselves, Our Culture, Our World

Yes, this tragedy is very true. And I would add to the above list of what we've been deceived into fearing is democratic socialism more than the greed inherent in capitalism.

Embodied here in the horrors and heartbreaks of the present are also the long festering pain and suffering, injustice and inequality, racism and misogyny, and the many faces of violence and trauma that have been embedded in our nation since the earliest days of slavery, colonialism, and the genocide of the Indigenous Peoples.

Trump and the fascism ushered in by neoliberalism are but symptoms of a much larger picture that is vital for us to see, understand, dismantle, and radically transform. The brilliant and courageous author and activist, professor and educator, feminist and wisdom-keeper bell hooks has referred to these toxic and dangerous systems, policies, and ideologies as being rooted in imperialist white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

And this is what has plagued us, has gotten into our bones and the cells of our ancestral lineage. This is what has poisoned and severed so many human beings from our greater depths of wisdom and love and sacred wholeness. These are the roots of separation, dehumanization, and all forms of individual and collective violence. This is what we must heal and transform within ourselves, our culture, our world.

Bless us all, no exceptions
Molly
