Angell Deer: Joanna Macy Showed Us How To Love Our World Fiercely

Thank you for this, Angell Deer. So beautifully, powerfully, wisely said. Joanna’s legacy lives on... With grief, gratitude, and Love... 💗🙏 Molly

She has returned to the Great Turning.
Joanna Macy—beloved grandmother of deep ecology, guardian of the Work That Reconnects, fierce voice for life in all its sacred forms—has passed through the veil.
But do not say she is gone.
Say: the mycelium sings louder now.
Say: the roots of the redwoods are humming her name.
Say: the grief that cracks us open is her final teaching made flesh.
Say: she has become what she loved.
Joanna did not only teach us to face the pain of the world. She showed us how to love it fiercely, in its unraveling and its becoming. She helped us remember that despair is not the enemy of hope—but its initiation.
To live with eyes open.
To act with hearts broken.
To let beauty and sorrow walk hand in hand.
That was her gospel.
And now, it is ours to carry.
Breathe in her words today.
Weep if you need.
Then go outside.
Put your hands in the soil.
And whisper: Thank you.
