This is an important interview. I am able to hear and respect these two different perspectives by Glen Greenwald and Noam Chomsky, both of whom I hold with the highest respect.
I get what Glen Greenwald is saying. I get it. For decades we’ve colluded with the corporate DNC and the neoliberal agenda and the nominations of the Clintons, Kerry and Gore, Obama and now Biden — all representing neoliberal ideology and values that are NOT mine or those of millions of us. This collusion can’t just go on and on because it enables the deadly status quo to continue unabated, with devastating consequences to our nation and the planet. I get it.
And I get what Professor Chomsky illuminates — Trump is THE most dangerous president in our nation’s history. I wish that Trump didn’t represent such a dire threat to life on Earth because I hate betraying my own deepest values. It just hurts my heart. That said, unless my state of Washington is a shoe in for Biden, I just don’t feel that I’ll have any choice but to cast a vote against Trump... which means that once again I will cast a vote for the lesser of two evils.
And I absolutely know that we must find a way to break this deadly cycle which perpetuates all that is at the root of so much suffering and death. I don’t have the answers. But I am joining with millions of us who are passionately seeking them and absolutely committed to the ongoing fight for a just, sustainable, peaceful, and caring world. — Molly
