This illuminates why I have been unable to support PBS/NPR. Yes, there are a few programs that exhibit a commitment to truth, integrity, and providing the American public with information that is vital for us to know. This is true. And, that said, it is also true that PBS/NPR consistently act as mouthpieces for Israel. Again and again they report what Israeli sources are saying. Unlike Democracy Now!, Jeremy Scahill, Chris Hedges, Henry Giroux, Norman Solomon, and countless other independent resources of information who report from sources inside Gaza, PBS/NPR act as mouthpieces for the powerful rather than acting to hold the powerful accountable. In doing so, they demonstrate a consistent pattern of allegiance to Netanyahu, AIPAC, and the American government in perpetuating disinformation, deadly lies, and the funding of the genocide of the Palestinian people. This complicity is intolerable. And I simply cannot support those who have the blood on their hands of the atrocities that are annihilating a whole population of human beings. It is unforgivable, infuriating, and heartbreaking. — Molly

Open Letter to PBS and
Nick Shifrin
A version of this email/letter was sent to PBS Newshour yesterday. While a response is welcome, open letter is posted here with zero expectation of any meaningful answer from PBS or Mr. Shifrin. Take action for the best even when there seems to be no hope.
__________
Dear Newshour and Mr. Shifrin,
This is in regards to your broadcast of Wed. Sept. 17.
Mr. Shiffin stated that he had PERSONALLY witnessed Hamas headquarters underneath Gaza hospitals.
HE - DID = NO - SUCH - THING.
Mr. Shifrin was just repeating talking points spoon-fed to him by Israeli military sources. What a shame. That’s not journalism and it IS misleading.
Robert McNeil and Jim Lehrer must be retching in their graves.
It seems to me that you and Mr. Shifrin are ASSISTING the extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza AND the West Bank.
Mr. Shiffin stated that he had PERSONALLY witnessed Hamas headquarters underneath Gaza hospitals.
HE - DID = NO - SUCH - THING.
I don't suppose anyone in your organization cares; otherwise you would AT LEAST have broadcast a retraction of Shifrin’s unprofessional and inaccurate claim last night. Instead you led the Gaza story (Sept. 18) with the Israeli ambassador to the US, an APOLOGIST for genocide, and let him lie his face off with nothing but soft-ball push-back.
For the record, I asked GoogleAI about this question ... thinking I might have missed some on-sight reportage by Shifrin. Here's the answer I received:
"As a reporter, Nick Schifrin did not personally see a Hamas headquarters under a Gaza hospital, but he reported on the Israeli military's claims and presentations of evidence.
He covered the Israeli allegations that Hamas was using hospitals like Al-Shifa and others for military purposes and to hide its command-and-control centers underground."
That's right. Shifrin and Newshour are just repeating pro-genocide talking point
