Naomi Wolf: An Important Voice in America

Even though I believe we are on the cusp of truly new leadership in America, and even though I believe that a profound positive shift is underway in this country and around the planet, I still feel moved to add this one additional post from yet another voice on the "dark side" of our nation. I do this because it is my personal experience that there can be no solution for problems denied, there can be no growth for experiences pushed away, there can be no process of moving into deeper and deeper Light without also having the courage and wisdom to embrace the dark. I see our nation as being deeply engrossed in "shadow work" - or whatever you may wish to call it - in which the bigotries, fears, polarities, violence, and more are coming up for clear view - and for embracing, healing, and transforming. Right under our American noses much of our democracy, our Constitution, our rights and our deepest values have been plundered. It is crucial, in my mind, that we support one another in seeing and embracing how deeply we have fallen in order that we may be truly empowered, individually and collectively, to truly choose a new direction. Fascist America, in 10 easy steps

From Hitler to Pinochet and beyond, history shows there are certain steps that any would-be dictator must take to destroy constitutional freedoms. And, argues Naomi Wolf, George Bush and his administration seem to be taking them all.

Do Not Miss the Naomi Wolf "Interview"

Posted by Stephen Carson at October 31, 2008 12:54 PM
Wow! Just finished the longest Lew Rockwell Show episode yet:
America's Slow-Motion Fascist Coup. It didn't take me the whole 50 minutes to figure out why Lew decided to use this whole conversation rather than cut it down to the usual 15 minutes or so. This is an extraordinary exchange (not really an interview in the traditional sense at all). Forget Obama, here is real hope! Light bulbs turning on, the real enemy (the state) becoming clear and new alliances forming... This is the way to destroy the divide and conquer strategy the U.S. State has used so effectively to keep it about "left" vs. "right" or whatever instead of what it should be about... Regular folks vs. that gang of thieves writ large. Thrilling!

Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries
In GIVE ME LIBERTY: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries Wolf investigates the roots of a growing national malaise that has bred “fake democracy” in the United States over the last three decades, a condition marked by equally fake patriotism and a modern notion that we Americans are “the Elect.”

Wish list for the future: necessary steps to take back democracy
This is direct heresy against the founders’ intent, Wolf says: Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and the rest “did not create liberty for America, but America for liberty, which they understood as part of universal law…. The founders had made it clear that we were not supposed to see ourselves as constituents, voters or recipients of the leadership of our representatives. We ordinary people were supposed to run things ourselves.”

"First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me." ~ Martin Niemoeller
