Oliver Kornetzke: MAGA Isn't Some Unstoppable Machine

I hope that the coming midterms will show a greater turnout of voters than ever before in American history!!! — Molly

Our election system isn’t invincible, but it’s a hell of a lot more robust than this regime wants people to believe. Elections in the U.S. aren’t run by some single centralized dictator button in Washington. They’re run locally, county by county, precinct by precinct, by thousands of state and local officials, bipartisan boards, and ordinary civilians who volunteer their time. It’s decentralized, messy, redundant, and spread out on purpose.

So if these dumbfuck authoritarians think a bunch of regular people—poll workers, clerks, volunteers—are just going to casually go along with their fascist bullshit and help them pull off some grand scheme to undermine free and fair elections, then they are not reading the fucking room.
I say this coming from a rural area. The elderly women who run elections out here have been doing it for years, sometimes decades, taking it dead seriously. They’re not about to roll over because some giant orange asshole demands it. These people aren’t revolutionaries. They’re rule-followers. They believe in the process. That’s exactly why the system holds.
Yes, yes, yes. I know the play: keep deep red areas quiet, cause chaos in blue urban centers, muddy the waters, scream fraud, and skew perception. But again, they’re drastically misreading the room.
That only works if you still have a solid base, and they don’t have that anymore.
Skewing results through disruption assumes your support is locked in everywhere else, but it isn’t. They now have to account for all the places Trump once held that are turning on him. This includes suburbs, independents, exhausted conservatives, and yes, even chunks of rural America. Recent elections have shown just how deeply Republicans are hated and are being rejected across the board. That hatred isn’t confined to “liberal cities” anymore. It has metastasized into places like rural Wisconsin.
So even if they try to throw sand in the gears in certain areas, they’re still bleeding support everywhere else. They’re fighting on shrinking ground. MAGA isn’t some unstoppable machine—it’s a loud, rotting minority trying to intimidate a country that’s increasingly sick of their shit.
