Eddie Glaude — Blaming President Donald Trump Is Too Easy: This Is Us.

WOW. This interview from 2019 is so spot on. This is why I’ve been encouraging everyone to listen to Eddie Glaude and read Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons For Our Own — https://www.amazon.com/Begin-Again-Baldwins.../dp/0525575324. As a white person, I am finding that it is an effortful process to open to actually seeing the racism that I have unknowingly absorbed and to do the hard ongoing work of becoming increasingly and authentically anti-racist. In looking at the divide within our nation, as manifested in the current close presidential election, it is obvious that we all have a long ways to go. Recognizing and owning our racism and the privileges of whiteness is certainly an essential part of our transformation as a nation and globally. Molly

Eddie Glaude, the chair of the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University, speaks to American culture, racism in 2019 and how President Trump is the "manifestation of the ugliness that's inside us."
