Be Clear: As Soon As You Try to "Negotiate", the Fascists Have Won

While demonizing MAGA individuals isn't helpful, people should not be trying to "compromise" with their ideology. At this point, it is a mix of virulent white Christian xenophobic nationalism, which aids and abets the oligarchy in its final looting of the middle and working classes. We can now add a violent, colonialist project to the agenda.

I'm saying this because the regular media is still treating this like we are having the same old fight between the 2 Parties. The amount of cruelty that has been normalized as "differences in policy" is absurd. Make no mistake about it, this is exactly the same process that led to the fascist escalations in Italy and Germany in the 20th Century.

As soon as you try to "negotiate", the fascists have won. As soon as you negotiate kidnapping people and throwing them in warehouses to be sent anywhere the State pleases, the fascists have won. As soon as you "debate" the humanity of people of color, women and Queer folks, the fascists have won. As soon as you "discuss" whether it's ok to depose another country's leader and take that country's wealth, the fascists have won.

And as soon as you debate whether an ICE agent has the right to execute an unarmed civilian because "she wasn't complying", the fascists have won.

The very engagement is a concession that these things are reasonable and potentially ethical.

They are not.

You will be gaslit every day during this administration. You've already experienced it. Worse, the media itself and even many Democratic Party politicians will gaslight you and treat these actions of the State as if we are simply engaging in regular politics.

We are not.

This is an attempted takeover by fascists.

Be clear about this because they are clear about who they are. MAGA dropped the mask a LONG time ago. They are openly declaring themselves and now are insisting that you need to "reject the evidence of your eyes" when it comes to the murder of Renee Good.

Don't waste too much time in endless debates with these folks: the importance is to fight this with ethical clarity based on the value that every human life is valuable.

You're not crazy. This is not normal. This is cruelty and dominance carried out in the name of the State and "the law" even as this (MAGA) movement has shown that it has no respect for either domestic or international legal structures. This is simply power asserting itself.

Fight this with clarity.
