Reflections on American Propaganda AND What We Can Do About It

"During times of universal deceit, telling
the truth is revolutionary."
George Orwell

For anyone who isn’t aware of the dangerous ongoing betrayal by the corporate mainstream American media of we the people and of the planet, read on and soak in what is happening. Truth is empowering! This also speaks volumes to the one candidate who, above all else, threatens the power of the most powerful. The roots of this power also go much deeper and are much greater than that of any one human being.

Bernie Sanders is again waging an insurgency within the corporate wing of the Democratic Party, and the momentum this time around is much greater than four years ago. Many are waking up every day. And the DNC and other corporate powerful interests are fighting back with everything they have.

More than everyone else, Bernie Sanders threatens the power of the powerful by repeatedly speaking the truth and countering propaganda narratives, AND by activating the Power of the People the power of millions of us who are mobilizing as never before and standing up to the elites who have long been destroying our nation, other nations, and the Earth.

These times require of us much, much more than voting alone. And millions of us are coming to understand this and waking up and taking action! Look at all the movements rallying behind Not Me, Us! Our time has come!

At the same time, there is enormous push back from the elites who are determined to not lose their power. This comes in the form of escalating toxic propaganda and enormous amounts of money pouring into fueling misinformation and lies, division and distraction, and the epidemic of disempowerment that plagues our nation.

It is deeply dangerous, disturbing, and chilling to once again witness the pervasiveness of the mainstream media and their relentless demonizing, dismissing, and mostly blacking out of Bernie Sanders and, therefore, also the millions of us who are demanding long overdue and urgently needed systemic change. The intensity of this toxic propaganda shines bright light on how threatened the elites are feeling.

This is because never before have We the People been so close to dismantling the power of the powerful and to building a caring and just culture and system of government that is authentically of, by, and for the people. And as people rise up worldwide, never before has humankind been so close to evolving and uniting as planetary sisters and brothers to birth this New World.

Some Examples of What We Don’t Hear About
In the Corporate Funded American Media

Bernie’s rallies are the largest of all candidates. He’s receiving huge funding from the American people and none from toxic corporations or billionaires. He’s receiving ever increasing significant endorsements from a diversity of renown people and groups. His polling shows him again and again easily beating Trump. Polling also shows Sanders consistently gaining and often polling at 1st or 2nd place — and all this despite the Bernie blackout and massive amounts of brainwashing and propaganda.

Bernie Sanders has the strongest most comprehensive plan to address the greatest threat humanity has ever faced the climate and ecological crises. Not one other candidate comes close to matching the dire emergency with the attention, funding, and plan for radical systemic changes that is essential to sustaining a habitable planet.

Intertwined with this plan is the fact that Bernie Sanders is the only candidate taking on the whole domination-patriarchal-oriented late stage neoliberal free-market predatory capitalist system that has long been destroying our nation and the planet. Bernie Sanders has demonstrated a lifetime of standing up to the special interests which have brought us the climate emergency, the sixth major extinction, brutal crushing poverty and death amidst the the obscene vast redistribution of wealth upwards, a healthcare system based on profit and greed rather than actual care, endless wars and violence, fracking and pipelines and the rape of our Earth Mother, and on and on. Over his lifetime, there is no wavering in his actions and values which reflect consciousness and commitment to advocating for the highest good of us all.

Bernie Sanders wrote the bill for Medicare for All. His platform includes completely transforming the obscene and insane amount of funding which goes to the military industrial complex and shifting those vast savings to services which help rather than harm life and line the pockets of the powerful. He's taking on the fossil fuel industry and Wall Street, the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, the prison industrial complex and the criminal injustice system. Bernie is 100% backing the Green New Deal and the complete transformation of our country away from profiting the most wealthy to one which works for all. And on and on.

The mainstream media does not inform us of these facts because the corporate media is funded by the large financial interests that Bernie and millions of us are united in dismantling.

If We Were an Informed People

I cannot even begin to describe how utterly sick and tired I am with the insane focus on polls, electability, and extreme obsession with Trump — and all to the exclusion of covering the critical issues of our times and the details of platforms, patterns, and policies of the presidential candidates. It is maddening to see the reality of what Noam Chomsky speaks of when he refers to the American people as "massively propagandized."

If we were an informed people, there is no way that we would vote for anyone other than the candidate who absolutely has the strongest plan to comprehensively address our greatest and most dire emergency — the climate and ecological crises. Anyone else minimizing or denying the enormity of this crisis and what is needed would be laughed off the debate stage. We would also understand the roots of where we are, how we got here, and the dramatic systemic changes that are utterly essential to transforming ourselves and moving forward rather than stagnating in the propaganda of realism and the status quo. If we were informed. If debates and our media actually addressed the truth rather than fed our fears, distractions, divisions, and ignorance.

There are absolutely countless examples of how propagandized we Americans are. One is on clear display in the MSNBC picture of presidential candidates that I posted above. And, although he is consistently among the top three candidates, BERNIE SANDERS' PICTURE WAS OMITTED. The blackout is intense and insidious because the Sanders movement represents the greatest threat to the power structures of the most powerful.

And make no mistake, these same powerful special interests would rather see Trump re-elected than have their power threatened and dissolved. That’s how poisonous these oligarchs are along with the corporate media that supports and enables them.

There is an imperative that we seek independent media resources and individuals as teachers who embody integrity, courage, a profound commitment to truth, and conscious awareness of a highest good for us all. We need to refuse to allow our ignorance to unknowingly align us with the powerful forces which are the greatest enemy of justice.

In our time, when high technology guided by values such as conquest, exploitation, and domination threaten our very survival, we need economics driven by an ethos of caring. We need a caring revolution.
  Riane Eisler

The time is here for a Caring Revolution, as Riane Eisler wisely and courageously frames it. We evolve now or we leave our children and all those to come with something much worse than another four years of Trump; we would be dooming them with the greatest catastropy imaginable an unlivable planet. We have no time left to justify wasting and squandering on the status quo of realism and pragmatism, a status quo sold to us by the powerful and which is exactly what has brought us to this place of national and planetary peril.

Now is the time to unite in doing everything humanly possible to get off the suicidal path we've long been on and birth a New World and a New Story — one which, at its core, values and stands in protection of life, all life. The eyes of the chlidren of all the species are watching. May we choose our resources, our beliefs, our actions, our values, and what we will fight for wisely, courageously, and with deep, deep love.
