Satish Kumar: How Much Can I Learn From a Tree?

Sometimes I come across a tree which seems like Buddha or Jesus: loving, compassionate, still, unambitious, enlightened, in eternal meditation, giving pleasure to a pilgrim, shade to a cow, berries to a bird, beauty to its surroundings, health to its neighbors, branches for the fire, leaves for the soil, asking nothing in return, in total harmony with ht wind and the rain. How much can I learn from a tree? The tree is my church, the tree is my temple, the tree is my mantra, the tree is my poem and my prayer.

So beautiful, and a poem in itself.
I have had so many experiences of trees and nature as this ever loving, protecting, providing, re-vitalizing and entertaining presence. This is why nature is the Great Goddess, eternal mother, guide and the place of our bodies' final rest. The cycle of love, inspiration and rest is what trees and the Earth are to me.
Thank you for sharing what my heart feels in the presence of these Buddha, Jesus, mother, Allah, Goddess trees.
