The higher self is just such a door, as is Buddha mind, Christ consciousness, or any religious path that commits us to follow our bliss and act with love. It is the door that Joseph Campbell says "opens where we thought there was no door." It was only the limited ego, with its characteristic fear and sense of scarcity, that could ever have come up with the concept of "no door." Beyond such a thought and beyond transferences is the door that we really are, the opening into the divine heart of the universe. The philosopher Martin Heidegger tells us our name: "Persons are not things or processes but openings through which the infinite manifests."
