Committing To Alleviating the Suffering In Our World

"We don’t set out to save the world; we set out to wonder how other people are doing and to reflect on how our actions affect other people’s hearts."
Pema Chödrön

"Spiritual practice involves, on the one hand, acting out of concern for others' well-being. On the other, it entails transforming ourselves so that we become more readily disposed to do so."
Dalai Lama

I look at all the desperate human beings at our borders, including thousands of children, and my heart hurts. And I know that we must do everything possible to address their needs and alleviate their suffering. Building walls and ignoring the desperation and pain of so many is immoral, inhumane, and heartless. It’s the imperialist white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy (bell hooks words) that needs to be dismantled rather than maintaining the walls around our hearts that is mirrored in the walls we build outwardly that cause so much endless pain, suffering, and death. Another world is possible. — Molly
