A Poem: Love After Love

Thank you to Ron for sharing this beautiful one with me...
which I am moved to pass on....

******************

Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

And say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

~ Derek Walcott

I share this on the 33rd anniversary of my twin brother's death....

Molly....
a beautiful poem.... thanks to you, and to Ron, for sharing....
It's a hard thing to remember... that loving one's self is the first step... and it gets confused with loving another.... even another that is a virtual copy of oneself...
The loves we find in life now cannot replace those we have lost, but they can show us how to keep on loving... that there is more work to do....
Thanks for letting your love light shine... on me and on others... an on your self.....
Blessings,
Bruce
