Donna Knutson: Sweet Prayers

Sweet prayers oh Holy one
For the closing of our eyes
The snuggling round a pillow
The dog upon a bed.
Gratitude for another day
To begin again
to soften around the sound of jazz
Playing for a few more minutes.
Sweet hour of gratitude for living in human form
For noticing brokenness and sitting next to it anyway.
For holding hands and believing in words that may make another feel better
and then they are gone.
Sweet glimpses of your grace
And resting in mistakes.
Holding sacred next to stubbornness
And Wisdom next to mercy.
Sweet eyes of hope
Sweet ears of whispers
Sweet smells of lantana in pots by the front door.
Sweethearts
Sweet dreams.
Beauty
