Some Thoughts On Dismantling Patriarchy and Birthing a Just and Caring World

In posting this, I also want to fully acknowledge and affirm the countless men for whom this is not true. These are men like my husband and many male friends and family members who stand as equal partners and in deep support of women, who are open-hearted and tender and kind, and who fight and struggle with us for our equality and human rights.

That said, the malignant masculinity and pervasive misogyny that arises out of patriarchal and white supremacist belief systems still continues to permeate our culture and world. We’ve come a long ways. And there remains a long ways to go.

May we raise our sons to be gentle and kind, respectful of the feminine, and free from cultural stereotypes that serve to diminish them and others. May we raise our daughters to be strong in the knowledge of their true worth. And may we all unite to work together towards a truly just and caring world. — Molly
