That my spiritual values are deeply interwoven with my political beliefs and activism - and threaded through how I live my life - in no way diminishes my awareness of how vital the separation between church and state is. Wherever we may worship, whatever our religious or spiritual tradition, and however it is that live our lives, may it be the core of our deepest values that we manifest in how it is that we are in the world - kindness and humility, empathy and compassion, curiosity and courage, understanding of those who are different from ourselves and respect for diversity, and caring and consciousness of all humans and all beings. May our hearts be open and may we love in an ever expansive and inclusive way. And may it be the awakened voices of love, consciousness, compassion, healing, wisdom, and passionate caring for all of life that we listen to and nourish ourselves with wherever we may be.
