Cristina Breshears: When a Society Loses Its Soul

Deep gratitude to Cristina Breshears whose writings, wisdom, and vision emanate through the eyes of her heart. These are the wise voices that we need to hear and absorb and be inspired by, a gift to us all. 🙏 Molly

Today's rabbit hole.
There is something uniquely shattering about watching love be used against itself. I keep thinking about how ordinary love has become dangerous: a child knocking on a door (Minneapolis); parents carrying a sick child toward a hospital (Portland); a mother walking her child to school in the morning light (Houston, Minneapolis, Portland). These are the kinds of moments so familiar it barely registers as courage, though it is one of the oldest acts of faith humans perform. Tending to, caring for, guiding and teaching our children.
These are not acts of resistance. They are acts of care. They are how people try to keep their children alive. But lately, they have been turned into traps, ways to twist the knife into our already shattered hearts.
We are told this is enforcement. Procedure. Policy. But those words feel thin, unable to carry the weight of what is actually happening, what we can see with our own eyes. What is being exploited here is not a loophole in the law. What is being weaponized is not the definition of witness or immigrant or asylum. What is being weaponized is love itself.
Parental love is ancient. It predates borders and statutes and governments. It appears in our myths, our religions, our evolutionary wiring. Every culture recognizes it. Every species depends on it. The instinct to protect one’s child is older than language, older than law. It is imbedded in our marrow.
To hijack that instinct, to force a parent into an impossible calculus where compliance is extracted through their child’s vulnerability, is not merely coercion, it is a moral inversion. It bends the very thing (love!) that binds us to life into a mechanism of control. This is why this moment feels especially grotesque. Something in us knows that children are not supposed to be instruments. We know love is not meant to be leveraged. When that unspoken covenant is broken, the damage does not stay contained. What is done to the most vulnerable does not remain isolated or contained. It is done also to ourselves.
I think this is why these stories lodge so deeply in the body and shake me awake. This is why the ground beneath ordinary life suddenly feels unreliable.
Carl Jung wrote about the collective unconscious – the shared psychic inheritance beneath our individual minds. Archetypes live deep in the recurring patterns that appear across cultures and centuries and foundational myths because they speak to something essential about being human. Among the most powerful of these is the Child.
The child is not just a young person. Archetypally, the child carries possibility, vulnerability, futurity and continuity. The child is the promise that life goes on. This is why children appear in myths as messengers, sacrifices, saviors. When a child is endangered, something ancient within us reacts before ideology or rational thought has a chance to intervene.
We instinctively know the child is never only someone else’s child. The child is everyone’s child.
This is why the injury spreads outward. When children are used as tools of fear, the psyche registers that the future itself is being held hostage. It is not accidental that authoritarian systems fixate on children: their bodies, their education, their movements, their identities. Control of the child is control of tomorrow. To harm the child archetype is to announce: nothing is sacred enough to be spared.
Did you know that when you pull on the pom poms of Liam’s blue bunny hat the floppy ears rise? Did you know Liam’s middle name is Conejo? Do you know conejo means rabbit in Spanish? Liam Conejo Ramos.
I can’t stop thinking about that.
In myth and dream, the rabbit is a liminal creature. A threshold being. It appears at moments of transition, guiding the conscious mind toward something it has not yet learned how to name. Think of the white rabbit leading Alice beyond the edges of the familiar world.
The rabbit symbolizes vulnerability, intuition, alertness, life-force. It is small and easily harmed, yet it survives through sensitivity, through an almost preternatural awareness of danger. It lives between worlds: field and burrow, exposure and shelter.
In Jungian psychology, animals often surface when the psyche is signaling a passage, when the old frameworks no longer hold and something deeper is being demanded.
A child named Rabbit pulled into this machinery of fear feels unbearable not because it is mystical, but because human cruelty has collided with ancient meaning. It tells us, at a level deeper than language, that innocence is no longer protected. That love has become leverage. That we are crossing a threshold whether we want to or not.
Thresholds – those liminal spaces that hold the potential to change us – like the front doors of our homes. Like the parking lots and waiting rooms of hospitals. Like the cross walk or drop-off line at schools. Like the pews of churches.
These are not just locations. They are sanctuaries. They are spaces humanity has collectively agreed must remain safe because life depends on them being so. When violence enters these places, something fundamental shifts. The nervous system understands before the mind catches up: If these places are no longer safe, then nowhere is.
This is how collective wounding works. When love is weaponized, trust erodes. When sanctuary is violated, fear multiplies. When children are used to force compliance, the injury ripples outward into families, communities, institutions, and the shared ancient ground we all stand on.
This is why ordinary acts begin to feel surreal: making dinner, sitting in the sun, laughing with a friend. They feel both necessary and illicit. The nervous system is trying to orient itself in a world where safe ground is no longer guaranteed.
Jung would have called this the shadow emerging. The shadow is the disowned violence of a society acting itself out in public view. When that shadow is projected onto the most vulnerable, the society does not become safer. It becomes hollowed. It loses its soul.
And yet, and yet! The wound also reveals what still matters, what is crucial to protect if we are to survive what is on the other side of the threshold.
If we feel this so viscerally, it is because some part of us refuses to let go of the belief that children should be safe, that love should not be turned into a weapon, that sanctuary must mean something. That refusal is not naïveté. It is conscience. That, my friends, is our humanity refusing to be swallowed by the shadow.
I don’t know what justice will look like yet. I don’t know how long this moment will last or how much repair will be required, how much grieving will overflow as we rebuild. But I do know that naming what is happening matters. Not to inflame, not to aestheticize suffering, but to refuse the normalization of what should never become normal.
When love is turned into a weapon, we must say so. When sanctuary is violated, we must mark the loss. When children are caught in the machinery of fear, we must keep them at the center of the story. Not as symbols, but as lives to be protected, nurtured, loved.
The rabbit pauses at a clearing. A child waits in a detention camp far from the safety of his home. The threshold is before us. What we choose to protect now will shape who we become on the other side. Our children are watching.

Alex Pretti Demonstrated the Right Kind of Masculinity

Tears. What powerful, powerful, deeply moving pieces. And so incredibly needed. Thank you! Deepest gratitude to Jackson Katz and Zeeshan Aleem and to all men who embody, model, and live a masculinity of the highest integrity, genuine strength and authenticity, courage and truth, compassion and love. — Molly

Hi, Friends.
The whole world is watching Minnesota right now. And sending whatever energy/support/solidarity we can. I know I am. In fact, I happen to be in Minneapolis right now, but (alas) not for anything directly to do with supporting the resistance there. I'm in the airport, just passing through 🙂
In any case, I wanted to express my admiration and gratitude for all the people in this great state who have chosen to fight back against the degradation of this country and its democracy.
Bravo! Brava!
This is exactly what's needed. Smart, non-violent people working together in a broad-based movement to fight for justice, fairness, human rights, and all that this country can and should be.
Along those lines, I've shared this piece (link below) by Zeeshan Aleem at MS NOW.
In an article about Alex Pretti, Aleem hones in on one of the great cons that Trump has sold to millions -- the idea that MAGA represents "real men," and that "real men" are needed to save this country.
As they destroy it!
From the piece:
"The Trump administration described Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old intensive care nurse killed by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis on Saturday, as a 'terrorist.' The reality, as seen on multiple videos taken of the incident, shows the opposite. It was the federal officers who acted as agents of state terror, while Pretti demonstrated extraordinary bravery in the final moments of his life as he tried to protect the most vulnerable in his community. Although the American right is obsessed with reviving 'masculinity,' its vilification of Pretti demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of its meaning. It was Pretti, in fact, who served as a model of the courageous male 'protector.' "
Onward!
Jackson

Alex Pretti Demonstrated the
Right Kind of Masculinity

MAGA is obsessed with "masculinity"
Pretti showed them what it really looks like.

The Trump administration described Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old intensive care nurse killed by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis on Saturday, as a “terrorist.” The reality, as seen on multiple videos taken of the incident, shows the opposite. It was the federal officers who acted as agents of state terror, while Pretti demonstrated extraordinary bravery in the final moments of his life as he tried to protect the most vulnerable in his community. Although the American right is obsessed with reviving “masculinity,” its vilification of Pretti demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of its meaning. It was Pretti, in fact, who served as a model of the courageous male “protector.”

Pretti was speaking to and video-recording Border Patrol officers as they conducted an immigration detention, and he intervened when an officer shoved a woman to the ground. But he did not intervene by acting violently; rather, he appeared to attempt to shield the woman with his body. He was immediately pepper-sprayed, then several agents grabbed him and wrestled him to the ground. Video footage shows an agent striking Pretti repeatedly with a tear gas canister and an agent removing a firearm from his belt before Pretti was shot several times.

Pretti’s final act in life was to try to intervene on behalf of a woman who appeared to be in danger. He, of course, knew that immigration agents in the city had at times acted viciously, and had recently killed a protester, but he stepped in anyway. That took guts. And he paid with his life.

This was just the tip of the iceberg in Pretti’s commitment to acting as a guardian.

Pretti was part of a Minneapolis community action in which citizens monitor and record immigration officers to try to document arrests and hold agents accountable for their actions — which had regularly veered into violence against detainees and protesters in his city. As sociologist Nicole Bedera wrote for MS NOW, this practice is based on de-escalation tactics and helps reduce violence by signaling disapproval and disrupting the atmosphere in which group violence thrives.

Pretti, a white man and U.S.citizen, was not the target for roaming bands of immigration agents who are reportedly racially profiling residents of Minneapolis. He instead acted out of solidarity and tried to help vulnerable minorities and immigrants in his community. Pretti’s mother said in a statement, “He loved this country, but he hated what people were doing to it.” More importantly, he was acting on that belief.

Ruth Anway, one of Pretti’s fellow nurses at a Veterans Affairs hospitaltold The New York Times that he “thrived” in a hospital environment and that he “wanted to be helpful, to help humanity and have a career that was a force of good in the world.”

A nursing student of Pretti’s wrote on Facebook

He trained me to care for the sickest of the sick as an ICU nurse. He taught me how to care for arterial and central lines, the intricacies of managing multiple IVs filled with lifesaving solutions, and how to watch over every heartbeat, every breath, and every flicker of life, ready to act the moment they wavered. Techniques intended to heal. Alex carried patience, compassion and calm as a steady light within him. Even at the very end, that light was there. I recognized his familiar stillness and signature calm composure shining through during those unbearable final moments captured on camera.

Pretti’s notions of what it means to be a protector stand in stark contrast to ideas on the right about what it means to be one. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has faced allegations of sexual assault (which he has denied), holds pull-up contests and obsesses over waging war. Manosphere influencer Andrew Tate, who faces criminal charges in multiple countries for human trafficking and rape, advises boys and young men to look at women as property and to beat them. White supremacist Nick Fuentes, who is becoming remarkably influential on the mainstream right, says women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. And the Trump administration tries to tap into traditionalist notions of manhood as fundamentally warlike in its recruitment drive for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The common thread is that being a “tough” man means aggression and dominance, not providing true safety or using strength with integrity.

What reasonable person thinks that bands of roving, unprofessional immigration officers who detain 5-year-olds, violate people’s rights to privacy and free expression, and often act like violent thugs should be seen as tough? Bullying is a province of the weak, not the strong.

Compare Pretti to the men he faced off against. He acted with calm determination to protect the vulnerable. The people who killed him ganged up on him, beat him and shot him while several men held him to the ground.

We’re still learning about who Pretti was in the wake of his death. But from what we can see on video, and what we’ve learned from family and friends, he demonstrated an admirable model of masculinity. In his career and activism, he used his strength and power to help, heal, serve and protect the most vulnerable among us. If more men were like him, the world would be a better place.

Witness Statement From Stella Carlson Regarding the Killing of Alex Pretti

Witness statement from “pink jacket lady”
Stella Carlson regarding Saturday’s shooting in Minneapolis:

1. I am a resident of the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am over 18 years of age. I am a children's entertainer who specializes in face painting.
2. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at about 8:50 am, I was getting ready to go to work when I heard whistles outside. I knew the whistles meant that ICE agents were in the area, so I decided to check it out on my way to work. I've been involved in observing in my community because it is so important to document what ICE is doing to my neighbors. Connecting to your local community and knowing who your neighbors are is something I profoundly value.
3. I drove to Nicollet Ave. and 26 where I could hear the whistles coming from. I turned south onto Nicollet. There were already several ICE agents there and they'd set up a sort of vehicle convoy on Nicollet and 28th. There were also about 15 observers there, recording and observing ICE.
4. I saw ICE agents surrounding cars and punching car windows. I also saw them stopping vehicles further down Nicollet, so I backed up because I didn't feel safe continuing on.
5. I noticed a man sort of acting to help traffic move more smoothly. He helped me find a place to park. I got out with my whistle and my camera. I went over to him and said something like, "I’m going to film and use my whistle."
6. It seemed like most ICE activity was happening a little farther down the street from us, near 27th. Someone was being thrown to the ground.
7. I started recording. There was an agent by a car across the street. Two observers were a few feet away from the agent, blowing their whistles. One was wearing a backpack.
8. I and the man who was observing and helping direct traffic were standing in the street. There was a phone in the man's hand recording a video.
9. An agent approached and asked us to back up, so I moved slowly back onto the sidewalk.
10. The man stayed in the street, filming as the other observers I mentioned earlier were being forced backward by another ICE agent threatening them with pepper spray. The man went closer to support them as they got threatened, just with his camera out. I didn't see him reach for or hold a gun.
11. Then the ICE agent shoved one of the other observers to the ground. Then he started pepper spraying all three of them directly in the face and all over. The man with the phone put his hands above his head and the agent sprayed him again and pushed him.
12. Then the man tried to help up the woman the ICE agent had shoved to the ground. The ICE agents just kept spraying. More agents came over and grabbed the man who was still trying to help the woman get up. All three of the observers looked to have been badly affected by the pepper spray. I could feel the pepper spray in my eyes.
13. The agents pulled the man on the ground. I didn't see him touch any of them—he wasn't even turned toward them. It didn't look like he was trying to resist, just trying to help the woman up. I didn't see him with a gun. They threw him to the ground. Four or five agents had him on the ground and they just started shooting him. They shot him so many times.
14. I don't know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him.
15. The video I recorded of what happened accurately depicts the events leading up to the agents shooting him and several minutes afterwards. The video is attached as Exhibit 1.
16. I have read the statement from DHS about what happened and it is wrong. The man did not approach the agents with a gun. He approached them with a camera. He was just trying to help a woman get up and they took him to the ground.
17. I feel afraid. Only hours have passed since they shot a man right in front me and I don't feel like I can go home because I heard agents were looking for me. I don't know what the agents will do when they find me. I do know that they're not telling the truth about what happened. I've heard that other witnesses might have been arrested and taken to the Whipple Building.
18. I am disgusted and gutted at how they are treating my neighbors and my state. I keep alternating between crying and feeling determined it is important to remember the value of documenting injustice. We show up for the people who need us to bear witness, because it can't just be one group of people bearing the brunt of their tyranny. This is a struggle to protect our freedom and democracy, those things are on the line. He lost his life for those values.
I declare under penalty of perjury that everything I have stated in this document is true and correct.

This Sunday at Portland Insight Meditation Center (Online & In Person)

Whatever our religious or spiritual tradition, it is my belief and experience that it is deeply important to expand and deepen our spiritual practices, our sources of support and solidarity, and our ways in which we engage in self-care  and especially during these frightening, painful, and traumatic times.

I am sharing just one gathering within my spiritual community that will be happening this Sunday and occurring both in person and online. There are several different teachers every Sunday who present at our Sangha. This next one on February 1st will be led by Doug Pullin, who also happens to be my longtime therapist.

Wherever we seek support, may it be with resources who empower us to more deeply cultivate and be peace. Bless us all, no exceptions.🙏Molly

This Sunday: Douglas Pullin

Sunday, February 1

10:00am - 12:00pm

Offered In-Person & Online via Zoom

Please join us this Sunday, February 1, as Resident Teacher Douglas Pullin offers a Dharma talk on Cultivating and Being Peace: From Inner Practice to Engaged Life.

Peace is often imagined as something we need to create, yet the Buddha taught that peace is revealed as we learn to meet life with wisdom, equanimity, and loving-kindness. In this talk, we’ll explore how being at peace with impermanence, unsatisfactoriness, and selflessness supports a deeper sense of ease — one that can hold both joy and sorrow. We’ll reflect on everyday practices for pausing, breathing, and softening reactivity; working gently with the five hindrances; and responding to anger, fear, and sadness with compassion rather than judgment. We’ll also consider peace as a living continuum — from inner steadiness to relational practice to engaged presence in the world — and invite each person to explore what their own path of peace might look like in this season of life.

A Life Truly Lived

A life truly lived
constantly burns away veils of illusion,
burns away what is no longer relevant,
gradually reveals our essence,
until, at last,
we are strong enough to stand
in our naked truth.

Dr Stacey Patton: The Evil Structure Has Always Been Here

"Fascism is a new name for the terror the Negro has always faced in America.”

Langston Hughes wrote these words in 1936. See how history loops?
Hughes was saying that what white Americans in the 1930s were beginning to fear in Europe wasn't new to Black folks at all. Things like state terror, racial scapegoating, mass surveillance, political violence, mobs deputized by law, and lives treated as disposable.
Our daily reality was living under a government that either participated in or turned a blind eye to racial terror with police and vigilantes operating as one. Courts that offered no protection. Propaganda that cast an entire population as dangerous, inferior, or subhuman. We had to endure lynching as social control. That all was fascism before the word.
It may have been new for white folks, but for us, all this shit was weather. It just finally had a name that white folks recognized.
Hughes was pointing to a cruel pattern, just like folks are pointing out today. When terror is reserved for Black people, it is normalized, rationalized, spiritualized, called law and order and heritage, and gaslit. But when the SAME machinery begins to brush up against white bodies, suddenly it gets named “fascism" or "authoritarianism.” Suddenly it’s “a threat to democracy.”
Back then, Hughes was telling white liberals that they were panicking about something abroad that has been domesticated and perfected RIGHT HERE in America. Y'all are calling it “foreign tyranny” when Black folk have been calling it “America.” None of that evil arrived from Mussolini or Hitler. It was already built into the architecture of the United States. Europe was just catching up to what America had normalized, industrialized, and scaled.
So yeah, this feels like history repeating itself, but it’s also delayed recognition. The evil structure has always been here but the targets have shifted. And now, the story finally gets believed.
And the haunting part is that every time, the archive is already there! The warnings already written. The analysis has already been done by Black thinkers decades earlier.

EXCELLENT — Dr. Stacey Patton: Deport White America?

Tears. My heart is broken open. Again. So powerful. So true... I am deeply moved and grateful for the strong voice of truth of Dr. Stacey Patton — yet another amazing woman who I have just discovered. As a 74 year old white woman who grew up in all white Grosse Pointe Michigan, I am profoundly grateful and changed by her voice and that of others who empower me to shed layer after layer of the narcissistic and delusional entitlement embedded in the imperialist white-supremacist misogynist capitalist patriarchy that has poisoned so many of us for so very long. And connecting with courageous truth-tellers and wisdom-keepers is absolutely part of my self-care and spiritual practice, part of what helps me to stay grounded and sane and conscious, and part of what informs and inspires and empowers me to grow and evolve and help and heal rather than add more harm to our beautiful hurting world.  Deepest gratitude and respect. — Molly

Listen to them, Y’all.

They are not isolated lunatics, and they are done pretending. They are done with the soft talk about “border security” and “the rule of law.” What these racist degenerates are saying to us, plain as day, is that the people they call “illegal” are an invasion, a contamination, a threat to the nation itself, and that they must be removed.

Removed Fast.

By force.

By whatever means necessary.

Listen to them resurrecting evil-ass Andrew Jackson like a canonized butcher. They are out here holding up this racist, sadistic, mass killer as proof that ethnic cleansing is not only acceptable but a patriotic duty. They’re fantasizing about a coming age of “remigration” and picture its enforcers being crowned as war heroes with medals glinting over the wreckage of families and histories. They hawk spit words like sovereignty, purity, inheritance, and civilizational survival with the fever of crusaders announcing a holy war.

This is a settler society finally dropping the mask, Y’all. To them, America is only America when it is being cleared, purified, and locked down. And their shrill cries of “invasion” are all projection. They’re flipping the crime scene so the descendants of the only real invaders of this land and longest-running squatters in history can pose as the victims who are under siege by the darker races.

Which is why this question has to be asked as indictment: Deport White America?

I know, I know. That question sounds incendiary as hell. I know it hits the ear like heresy, like treason, like somethin’ we ain’t supposed to even think, much less say out loud. But once you actually look into it, the question stops being outrageous and starts being logical AF!

Because the entire architecture of the American immigration debate is built on a claim of moral legitimacy. Meaning, that borders are sacred, sovereignty is inviolable, trespass is a crime, and those who arrive without permission must be removed.

But if we actually take those principles seriously and don’t treat them as convenient props but as real moral rules, then logic forces us to reckon with origins.

Tell me, who crossed oceans and borders that did not belong to them? Who arrived with guns, germs, and a Christian god and called it their destiny? Who took land without consent? Who stayed by force? Who built a whole nation on top of millions of people they expelled, killed, or confined?

Who declared inhabited land “empty” so theft could be renamed discovery? Who wrote laws after the crime to make the crime look legal? Who turned conquest into citizenship and called it birthright? Who still profits from the dispossession and calls it heritage? Who now polices “illegality” while standing on the original crime scene?

By the very standards now being screamed about (legality, sovereignty, original belonging, permission) the founding population of this country fails its own test.

So the question about deporting white America isn’t absurd. It’s structurally consistent. It applies the same moral grammar backward instead of only forward. It exposes that “illegal” is not a neutral category but a time-locked one that’s designed to start counting after conquest has already been completed and laundered into law to protect what they took..

The word “illegal” only works if you pretend like history begins at a convenient point, after the land has already been stolen, after the borders have already been drawn by force, after the bodies have already been cleared, after the violence has already been legalized.

So when the state calls somebody “illegal,” it is saying: you violated borders that were created through violence, laws that were written by the victors, and a sovereignty that was established by erasing the people who originally had it.

To apply that same logic backward is to reveal the scam. By the very definition being used today, the first people who would qualify as “illegal” are the settlers themselves. And their descendants are not innocent bystanders to that history, but the beneficiaries of it, living inside a legality engineered to erase the crime that made all their inheritances possible. The category of “illegal” collapses once you stop letting conquest hide behind time and paperwork.

Deport White America is absolutely a logical question because it uses the system’s own moral language and turns it toward its origin, where it was never meant to be applied. What is being defended by these racists and descendants of colonizers is not law, but inheritance. It ain’t sovereignty, but spoils. It’s not borders, but the insulation of an origin story that cannot survive its own rules being applied to itself.

So when these racist screams about “illegality,” what they are really doing is performing historical ventriloquism. They are shoving their own filthy origin story into somebody else’s mouth. They are projecting their ancestral crimes onto people whose very presence is the consequence of those crimes.

These online rants aren’t about borders. This is about innocence. White America is desperate to believe that history can expire. That after enough generations, theft can simply become naturalized as inheritance. That after enough time, blood can become soil. That after enough forgetting, invasion and genocide can become “founding” and “destiny.”

It’s too unbearable for them to confront the past and admit that their presence here is not the result of consent, but of conquest. That this nation’s wealth is not the fruit of hard work alone, but of stolen labor. That the nation they’re trying to defend is not the child of liberty, but the bastard child of Empire.

So instead, they wanna criminalize the living to avoid judging the dead. They wanna cage migrants so they never have to indict settlers. They wanna deport the displaced so they never have to name the displacement. So deporting “illegals” is their ritual of cleansing and a way to symbolically expel the original sins they refuse to confess. Every brown body removed is a temporary psychic and spiritual relief from the knowledge that this entire American project rests on a mass grave.

The obsession with “who belongs” is the obsession of a people who know, deep down, that they never asked. The paranoia about “replacement” is the anxiety of a group whose own arrival replaced entire civilizations. The panic about “erasure” is the echo of the erasures they performed.

This is the psychic core of the whole thing: A civilization built on removal can only imagine the future as removal. A people born of displacement can only conceive of security through expulsion. So they patrol borders. They build walls. They offer up migrant children as sacrifices to the god of national innocence. And then they call it law and order.

So what does it mean to say, “Deport White America?

It means throw their own language back at them and refuse to soften it. It means that we say if removal is your highest moral principle, if “go back to where you came from” is your ultimate answer, if borders are sacred and trespass is unforgivable, then let’s stop fuckin’ pretending those rules only run in one direction through time.

Return what was stolen. Return the land. Return the authority. Return the lie of original innocence. Return the treaties that were broken. Return the names that were erased. Return the children who were taken. Return the languages that were beaten out of mouths. Return the bodies to the ground they were worked to death on. Return the wealth siphoned from stolen labor. Return the histories buried under monuments. Return the sovereignty smothered by flags. Return the futures that were stolen before they could be imagined. Return all the truth that conquest tried to kill.

Deport White America means that we tell the heirs of conquest exactly what they tell everybody else: YOU are illegal. YOU are here because of violence, not permission. YOU are here because of theft, not destiny. YOU are here because borders were ignored, treaties were shredded, children were slaughtered, and whole worlds were erased. And if “leave and come back the right way” is the standard, then your arrival fails every test you now impose.

And the bitter truth underneath it all is this: there is no “right way” back into a story that began in invasion and blood. There is no paperwork that can launder genocide. No waiting in line that can cleanse stolen land. No oath, no flag, no constitution that can undo the fact that this entire project was born in expulsion of Europe’s worst worst impulses. Its wars, its plagues, its religious fanaticism, its caste hierarchies, its sadistic public murders, its hunger for land and dominion, all of it exported across the Atlantic and refashioned into a nation that pretends to be some kind of model of egalitarian democracy.

So when we say “Deport White America,” what we are really naming is the impossibility of innocence. We are saying that the only true corrective would be a kind of moral exile from the fantasy of entitlement itself. An un-housing from the theology that taught them they were chosen. A stripping away of the psychic armor that made conquest feel holy and other people’s suffering feel like the cost of just doing business.

Because for the descendants of colonizers to “come back the right way” would require something history has never seen. Which is generations of white folks willing to sit with the full weight of what was done, to relinquish the spoils, to unlearn the catechism of white supremacy, to purge the trauma from their own bodies, to purge the sadism, the greed, the god-given alibi that once pushed them out of Europe and then gave them permission to turn somebody else’s home into their forever.

Deport White America?

I know that question burns. Not because it is impractical. But because, at the level of moral logic, it is devastatingly fair.
